Philosopher's Wedding Cake Topper
I'm sure Plato himself would have a lot to say about these sculptures....he would probably hypothesize that this is a type of contemporary interpretation of the ancient Roman art of terra cotta sculpting....Gadzooks!!!...He would be right!
You see there isn't all that much that has changed in this time honored tradition...yes I fire my kiln electrically , not fuelled by fallen olive trees...and my paints are factory made and tested, not hand pressed ochre's and stains...BUT the actual hand creating process is basically the same as from the time of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and all the great philosophers of old....
Of course we have a modern touch via the starbucks coffee, piano and baseball cap on the bride....
it's not necessary to have a doctorate or to examine any ancient texts...the clay figurine sculpting tradition is still alive and well.!!
